Raag, Roop Aur RangFebruary 2016

The 2016 edition of Raag, Roop Aur Rang was held at the Narada Gana Sabha on 27th February 2016.  This edition featured two musical greats - Sangeet Samrat Chitravina N. Ravikiran and Vidushi Smt. Kaushiki Chakrabarty.

The evening commenced with the lighting of the traditional Kuththuvilakku accompanied by the rendition of an invocation song (Vedic verses Sanggachhwadhwang Sangbadadhwang fused with Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's Anandaloke Mangalaloke) by the Manabendra Smaraney Choir.

This was followed by a soul soothing exhibition of select raagas and thumris by Smt. Kaushiki Chakrabarty, much to the delight of the packed audience.

The spellbound audience had more coming their way when the Chitravina was brought to life by the magical expertise of Shri. N. Ravikiran.  The scintillating performance mesmerised the audience.

No one could have asked for more when the two musical greats presented an awesome Jugalbandi, which was so overwhelmingly beautiful that the audience would have happily spent the whole night at the venue, just witnessing the event.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks and the singing of the National Anthem.
